Winifred "Winnie" I. (Bowden) Arola, 98, died peacefully May 23, 2014. She was the widow of Rudolph J. Arola, who died in 1971. Born in New Bedford, she was a daughter of Annie (Hampton) and Frederick A. Bowden. She served in Women's Army Corps (WAC). Winnie operated the family business, Bowden Fish and Chips on Grafton Street. She also worked at Astra Pharmaceuticals for 26 years, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed time at the beach and the ocean, sailing, dancing, and spending time with family. She leaves daughters Donna Donovan and her husband Timothy of Millbury and Pamela Muller and her husband Gerald of Cotuit, four grandchildren Jodi and her husband Scott Turner, Kelly and her husband Daniel Jones, Jacquelyn and her husband Matthew LoSchiavo, and Christopher Muller, six great-grandchildren Kayla and Kelsey Turner, Corey and Meghan Jones, and Damian and Chiara LoSchiavo, and nieces. She was predeceased by sisters Violet Powell and Annice Gamela.

Calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., will be held Tues., May 27, from 4-7pm. The funeral service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 3 Pleasant St., Sutton at 11am. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, St. John's Episcopal Church, 3 Pleasant St., Sutton MA 01590.
