William "Bill" Edward Bernier of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 24, 2026, at age 94. 

Born in Fitchburg, MA, Bill earned his bachelor's degree from Fitchburg State College. He served six years in the United States Navy, with postings in Japan and Italy, where he met the love of his life, Maria Luisa “Mitzi”. Mitzi and Bill were married for 60 years until Mitzi’s passing in 2018.

 Bill spent his entire professional career at Norton Company of Worcester, MA, where his work took him and his family abroad, living in Argentina, Spain, and Mexico. Adventurous and culturally curious, Bill loved to travel throughout his life and formed deep, lasting relationships with people around the world. He had a rare gift for making a positive impact on everyone he met and would do anything for anyone in need. Those who knew him remember a man of warmth, generosity, and genuine curiosity about the world and the people in it. 

Bill is survived by his sons, Mark and Gary; daughters-in-law, Annie and Leslie; and his grandchildren, Evan, Nicholas, Alex, and Hope. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St, Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester, MA. 

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
