Obituary

Weikko Niemi (Kallioniemi), 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the Odd Fellows Home. Weikko was born in Worcester, son of Ernst W. and Taimi K. (Ammala) Kallioniemi. He attended Worcester schools and retired from the Ames Department Store. Weikko proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He leaves his niece, Donna Walsh; nephew, Steven Walsh; 4 grandnieces, Dee, Katie, Brooke, and Liisa; 3 great-grandnieces, Hannah, Noella, and Emelie; and a great-grandnephew, Charlie. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Helen M. and Charles Walsh; brother, Waino Kallioniemi; and nephew, Chuck Walsh.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017, from 10-11am in Nordgren Funeral Home, 300 Lincoln Street. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Finnish Heritage Society, c/o Eva Hirvi, 4 Ridgewood Road, Paxton, MA 01612.
