Obituary

Virginia M. Backstrom, 89, born in Cherry Valley MA, longtime resident of Worcester MA, recently of Highland Heights OH, passed peacefully from COVID-19 on December 12, 2020.

Virginia was a graduate of Leicester High School, Salter Secretarial School, was former Executive Director of Home Staff Inc. of Worcester County, a teacher's aide at St. Nicholas Ave. Elementary School. She was kind and service oriented. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, and RSVP Worcester Area Volunteers.

She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years Roy G. Backstrom Sr, US Navy Veteran, and leaves her son Roy G. Backstrom Jr., his wife Martha Backstrom, grandchildren Roy G. Backstrom III and Lee Marie Backstrom of Sterling MA. She also leaves her daughter Lee Ann Baggott MD, son in law Brian B. Baggott, MD of Gates Mills OH; grandchildren Erin Baggott Carter PhD, Tara J. Ferrero MBA, and great-granddaughter Fiona H. Carter.
She is predeceased by her parents Viola and Edward W. Klosek who immigrated from Poland; sister Helen M. Klosek, brothers Walter E. and Stephen J. Klosek of Cherry Valley and Leicester MA.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 9:00 a.m in St. Joan of Arc Church, Lincoln Street, Worcester MA, followed by burial at All Faiths Cemetery.
