Worcester—Virginia (Hagopian) Babigian, 96, died Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Saint Vincent Hospital. Her husband of 54 years, Charles "Garabed" Babigian, died in 1986. She leaves a son, Vahe "Vern" Babigian and his wife Muriel of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Rosalee "Lee" Malo and her husband James of Worcester; 2 sisters, Queenie Bilzerian and Alice St. Onge both of Worcester; a sister-in-law and best friend, Victoria Hagopian of Worcester; 3 grandsons, Dr. Anthony Babigian of Pittsburgh, PA, Michael Babigian of Atlanta, GA, and Dr. Alan Babigian of Farmington, CT; 5 granddaughters, Ann Wildgoose of Saratoga, NY, Kristina Malo of West Boylston, Michelle Babigian of Worcester, Nicole Malo of Brookline, and Lisa Malo of Worcester; a daughter-in-law, Louise Babigian of Farmington, CT; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Arthur "Artie" Babigian (1996) and 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She was born in Watertown, daughter of Alexander and Agnes (Kazangian) Hagopian. She was a graduate of West Boylston schools and worked at the former Wiley Bickford Co. and was a salesclerk for the former Barnard's and Filenes department stores. Virginia was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Armenian Church and the Ladies Guild of the church. She was a devoted and loving wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and was loved by all. Virginia loved reading and solving crossword puzzles.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Armenian Church. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30-10:30 Monday at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Holy Trinity Armenian Church or the Capital Fund of the church, 635 Grove St Worcester MA 01605. For directions and on-line guest book, please visit:
