Obituary

Worcester - Mrs. Viola E. (Nordgren) Mangsen, formerly of 25 Hartford Road, died Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Lutheran Home of Worcester. She was the widow of Frank R. Mangsen, who died in 2001. She leaves a daughter, Lois E. Pakula, widow of John J. Pakula; four grandchildren, Christine Griffin and her husband William, Carolyn Peterson and her husband Paul, Kurt J. Nordgren Mangsen and his wife Katherine, and Carl E. Hunt; ten great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Harry R. Mangsen (d. 1996), two brothers, Carl G. and A. Rudolph Nordgren, and her sister, Elsie LaFleur.

Mrs. Mangsen was born and lived her life in Worcester. She was the daughter of the late Jenny (Broberg) and Carl Eric Nordgren, owner/founder of the Nordgren Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Mangsen was a former member of the Quinsigamond Salvation Army and presently is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and planting flowers in her garden.

Calling hours will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, December 17, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, December 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Lutheran Rehab & Skilled Care Center "Activities Fund" 26 Harvard Street Worcester MA 01609.
