Obituary

Worcester—Viena E. (Mantyla) Carlson, 97, died Monday, January 9, 2006, in the Beaumont Nursing Home, Northborough. Her husband of 65 years, Harry G. Carlson, died in 1999. She leaves a daughter, Lynne E. Ticho, and her husband, Ben, of Shrewsbury. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Mikko and Maude (Sorvisto) Mantyla. She was a clerk in the Buildings Dept. for the City of Worcester. She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church, an avid craftswoman, and dog-lover. She volunteered at the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organizations.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, 484 Main St., Worcester MA 01608.
