Obituary

Boylston- Vera M. (Shankle) Nichols, 85, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2009. Her husband, Edgar, pre-deceased her in 2000. Vera leaves 2 sons and their wives, Robert E. and Ida Nichols of Barre, MA, and Bruce R. and Deborah Nichols of Orange Park, FL. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, a brother, Raymond Shankle Jr. and a sister, Marion J. Sanders both of Boylston, nephews and nieces.

Vera was born in Worcester, daughter of June (Corkum) and Raymond F. Shankle, Sr. She graduated from Worcester Trade School and spent many years as a cafeteria worker at Tahanto Regional High School. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Boylston, the Boylston Graduates Association, and the Boylston Historical Society.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2009 from 5-7 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Boylston, 10 Church St. Boylston, MA 01505.
