Obituary

WORCESTER – Valerie (Butler) Cotter, 70, of Westbrook Road died Monday, May 5th in U. Mass. Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus.

She leaves her husband of 39 years, William J. Cotter; two sons, William J. & Jonathan M. Cotter, both of Worcester and two grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Francis & Ida (Hannula) Butler and lived in Worcester all her life. She graduated from South High School in 1950, received a bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1954, a master's degree from Worcester State College and attended Clark University.

Mrs. Cotter taught for 9 years at Grafton Street Junior High School in Worcester. She was a member of the Brown University Alumni Association.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6 Strathmore Road, Natick, MA 01760. Nordgren Memorial Chapel (NordgrenMemorialChapel.com), 300 Lincoln Street, is directing arrangements.
