Obituary

Worcester: Thyra E. (Erickson) Steelman, 103, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2017 in Holy Trinity Nursing Home. She leaves a daughter Pamela and her husband Howard Evers of North Oxford; a grandson The Rev. Eric W. Evers and his wife The Rev. Paige G. Evers of Delaware; and 2 great grandchildren- Sigrid and Soren Evers. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Carl S. Steelman and by a sister Mildred Erickson.

Thyra was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Arvid and Freida (Carlson) Erickson. She graduated from North High School. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served as the president of its Lutheran Church Women Group. She sang with the Chaminades for many years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and wonderful wife and mother. The family would like to thank the staff at Holy Trinity for their compassionate care.

A calling hour will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 10-11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church 41 Whitmarsh Ave. Worcester. A funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Thyra's memory may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Ave., Worcester MA 01606.
