Westborough, MA: Thomas G. Toeppner, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus. He leaves his wife of 63 years Lois (Ziegler) Toeppner, a son Robert T. Toeppner and his wife Domenica Hogan of New Jersey, a daughter Susan Hogan and her husband Dennis Hogan of Merrimac, MA, 3 grandchildren- Maya, Timothy, and Molly, 2 brothers - Robert D. Toeppner of North Carolina and Richard Toeppner and his wife Mary Ellen of Michigan, and 5 nephews- Scott, Dale, Jeff, Steve, and Dan. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law Kathy Toeppner.

Thomas was born in Bay City, Michigan, son of the late Earl and Bernice (Gifford) Toeppner. He graduated from the General Motors Institute of Technology as an Industrial Engineer. He worked as a quality control manager in the manufacturing industry for many years. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester.

Tom had a deep passion for gardening and landscaping. He took great pride in creating beautiful outdoor spaces and found tremendous satisfaction in tending to his gardens, nurturing plants, and watching his landscaping evolve through the seasons. He was a familiar and beloved presence at the community gardens, where he made many lasting friendships. He was always happy to share his knowledge and offer advice to fellow gardeners, whether they were experienced growers or just getting started. He took particular pride in growing vegetables and generously shared the fruits of his harvest with friends, neighbors, and the local food pantry. For him, gardening was about much more than growing things; it was a way to connect with people, give back to his community, and share something he loved with others.

He and his wife were avid travelers who embraced the opportunity to explore the world. Whether discovering new places, experiencing different cultures, or simply enjoying the beauty of a new landscape, they treasured their travels and the memories they made along the way.

Classical music was another important part of Tom’s life. He was an enthusiastic listener who found joy and inspiration in the works of the great composers, especially when they were performed by his talented wife, Lois. Music, like gardening and travel, provided him with both beauty and a sense of connection to something greater.

Above all, Tom will be remembered for his quiet and steady nature, his appreciation for the beauty in everyday life, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of beautiful gardens, cherished memories, and countless stories from a life well lived.

Calling hours will be held for both Tom and his wife, Lois (who passed away in August) on Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church 73 Lancaster St. Worcester. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery.
