Obituary

Thomas John Haffty, 77, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away on February 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Thomas was raised in Worcester, where he built deep roots and formed lifelong friendships that remained important to him throughout his life. His love of golf eventually led him to South Carolina in 2006, where he embraced the southern lifestyle and became an active member of the welcoming community.

As a young man, Thomas was proud of earning his Eagle Scout rank and of his service in the Army Reserves. After starting a family, he dedicated his professional life to a successful career as an insurance sales agent, earning many top honors and enjoying memorable trips along the way.

A passionate golfer, Thomas settled in Murrells Inlet to be closer to the game he loved. He spent his days chasing the next great round and sharing meaningful time with his regular golfing friends, his “biker buddies,” his church community, and the many friends and neighbors who truly became an extended family.

Thomas is survived by his son, Jeffrey Haffty, and his wife, Sara; his daughter, Kimberley Dodge (Haffty), and her husband, Bobby; and his beloved grandchildren, Madison, Emma, and Calvin. He was a devoted brother to Robert Haffty and Janice Jeannotte, and a loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, and cousins, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in loving memory of Thomas Haffty, honoring a life that touched so many.

A calling hour will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 10-11 a.m. in St. George Orthodox Cathedral 30 Anna St. Worcester, MA 01604. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.at the church. He will be laid to rest at Hope Cemetery in his hometown, reunited in eternal rest with his beloved mother and father.  Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
