Obituary

Worcester: Stanley G. Nelson, 76, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at home, "during his 76th revolution around the sun". He leaves 2 sons Erik S. Nelson and his wife Darlene of Winchendon and Kurt I. Nelson and his wife Amy of Bedford, NH; 2 grandsons- Reed and Brooks Nelson; a brother Peter T. Nelson; and a niece Vicki Graham. He was predeceased by a sister Janice.

Stan was born in Worcester, son of the late Stanley and Mae (Hickson) Nelson. He graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester State College, and received his Masters of Education degree from Worcester State College. He proudly served his country in the National Guard. He worked as a biology teacher for many years in the Worcester School District, teaching most recently at Doherty High School. He was a member of Greendale Peoples Church, was a past master of the Montacute Lodge and was a 33 degree Mason. He enjoyed teaching, musicals, and fine dining.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 2-3 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Dyslexia Center of Central MA 1 Ionic Ave. Worcester, MA 01608.
