Obituary

Shrewsbury: Shirley M. (Anderson) Midgley, 100, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her daughters Lucinda "Cindy" Midgley and Wendy Midgley and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Robert Midgley and by her siblings Merilyn Anderson Mulcahy, Ruby Anderson Woodworth, Doris Anderson Carlson, and Lloyd Anderson.

Shirley was born in Worcester daughter of the late Andrew and Olga (Pearson) Anderson. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked as a bookkeeper at New England Power Company in Westboro for many years. She was a member of Salem Covenant Church in her youth and First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury. She enjoyed sewing, doing crossword puzzles and sudoku, gardening, swimming, walking, tennis and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time near the water: Lake Quinsigamond and the ocean shorelines of Maine, Florida, and Cape Cod.

A calling hour will be held on Friday May 30, 2025 from 12 Noon-1:00 PM in the Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's memory may be made to Salem Covenant Church, 215 E. Mountain St. Worcester MA 01606.
