Worcester: Seija L. (Peltomaa) Nummelin, 85, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 67 years Edward E. Nummelin, a son Karl Nummelin of Worcester, 2 daughters- Martha Donahue and her husband Robert of Worcester and Lisa Morgan and her husband John of Rutland, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother Seppo Peltomaa.

Seija was born in Finland, daughter of the late Toivo and Esther (Ihamaa) Peltomaa. She immigrated to America and worked as a baker in the cafeteria at Forest Grove Middle School and Burncoat High School. She was a member of Greendale People’s Church and its Proto Club. She enjoyed knitting, baking, and gardening.

The family would like to thank the staff of Home Instead Care Pros and the staff of Care Central VNA and Hospice for their compassionate care of Seija.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. All are welcome to attend. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Seija’s honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
