Obituary

Russell L. Flagg, 86, a WWII Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, formerly of Idalla Ave, died Friday, May 30, at the Saint Francis Home.

His wife Gloria (Burgess) Flagg died in 1988. He leaves 2 sons, Frank E. Flagg of East Flat Rock, NC and Earl W. Flagg of Worcester; 2 brothers, Raymond Flagg of Worcester and Richard Flagg of Cherry Hill, NJ; 2 sisters, Gladys Thibodeau and Helen LaPan both of Worcester; 4 grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A brother, George Flagg, and 4 Sisters, Evelyn Murphy, Mabel Hanson, Ethel Hoffman and Doris Sargent predeceased him. A Grandson, Timothy J. Flagg died in 1981. He was born in Southbridge, son of Frank and Alice (Gero) Flagg.

Mr. Flagg worked in the stock room at the Heald Machine Co. for over 40 years retiring in 1981. He was a member of the VFW Post 6907 in W. Boylston. He was also a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S Army, Company A, 6th Armored Infantry Battalion. He received the Purple Heart.

A funeral service will be held Monday, June 2 at 10:00 A.M in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. (www.nordgrenmemorialchapel.com) Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling Hours will be held Sunday, June 1 from 4-6 in the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Saint Francis Home, 101 Plantation St. Worcester, MA 01604.
