Obituary

Worcester—Roy C. Strand, 86, formerly of Brookhaven Road, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006, in Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. His wife of 56 years, Edna (Carlson) Strand, died in 2004. He was born in Worcester, son of Carl J. and Anna T. (Berggvist) Strand and was a graduate of Commerce High and Worcester Junior College. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a machinist/planner for the Norton Co. for 44 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Norton Retirees. He leaves a son Ronald C. and his wife Joann of Burlington, and 2 grandchildren, Eric C. Strand of Merrimack, NH and Jennifer L. Strand of Lowell, and several nieces and nephews. Five brothers and 3 sisters predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, at 11:00 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held at 10:00 a.m. before the service. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 41 Whitmarsh Ave., Worcester, MA 01606.
