Obituary

Worcester: Ronald E. Hughes, 49, passed away unexpectedly after heart valve replacement surgery at UMASS Memorial Healthcare University Campus. He leaves 3 sisters- Carol Murray and her husband Gary, Cheryl DiBenedetto and her significant other Brian Fontaine, Deborah Dugan and her husband Al, 2 brothers- Robert Hughes and his wife Judy who was predeceased in 2005 and Donald Hughes and his wife Linda; several nieces and nephews, his best friend of 40+ years Wayne Augusto, and his beloved canine friend Buddy. He was predeceased by a brother Worcester Police Officer Edward T. Hughes in 2000.

Ronald was born in Worcester, son of the late Hughie and Dorothy (Freeland) Hughes. He attended Burncoat High School and during his younger years, Ronald worked as a roofer for Monfreda Roofing Company. He enjoyed spending time with family, and especially so with his several nieces and nephews. Ronnie loved rock and roll music, and playing the drums.
