Robert E. Daley died on May 12, 2026, following a long struggle with dementia. He was born on April 4,1945 to parents James F. Daley and Mary L. Leahey.


He attended Worcester Public Schools and graduated from North High in 1963. After high school he was accepted at the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, Connecticut and graduated in 1965. He was the first recipient awarded the Francis L. Roth Teaching Fellowship.


Post graduation, Robert worked at various country clubs, taught ‘Gourmet Cooking’ adult education classes, and once was the Chef Demonstrator for Channel 27, Worcester, MA.

When Assabet Valley Vocational Technical High School was being built, Robert helped establish the Culinary Arts Program where he taught for over 30 years.


Robert had a great appreciation for the Native Americans Arts and Culture, music of all genres and his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings.


He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Estes Daley, his daughter Jennifer D. Silverberg and husband Mark D. Silverberg, and son Joseph P. Daley. He is also survived by his three brothers Gerald Daley and wife Barbara, Paul Daley and wife Joanne, James Daley and his wife Michele, sister in law Beverly Maloney, nieces and nephews as well as his grandchildren Ryan, Ella and Macy Silverberg.


The family would like to thank the Sterling Village Nursing Home and Autumn Hospice (especially Mary) for their excellent care.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2026 from 4- 5:30 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A Celebration of Life will follow at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob Daley’s memory may be made to Jeff’s Place Children’s Bereavement Center in Framingham, MA 01701.
