Obituary

Worcester: Richard M Arakelian, 80, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife Betsy (Bresnahan) Arakelian; son Jason and his wife Patti Arakelian of Worcester and step-children Steven Bresnahan of Dudley and Dorene Jette and her husband Walter of Charlton; grandchildren Cameron, Preston, Skye, Ryan and his wife Jillian, and Casey; a great granddaughter Juliet; and a sister Marcia Arakelian.

Richard was born in Worcester, son of the late Ardo and Mary (Bogosian) Arakelian. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School and worked as a surgical technician at Memorial Hospital for many years. He was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour and the Greendale Retired Men's Club. He spent time volunteering at Harrington Hospital and teaching CPR. He enjoyed trips to Maine and watching the sailboats.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
