Worcester: Raymond R. Starvaski, 86, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Audrey. A lifelong resident of Worcester, Ray was born to the late Edward and Mildred (Hessleton) Starvaski. He graduated from Worcester Vocational High School, formerly known as Boys Trade, in 1958, and later attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a certificate in Industrial Management.

After graduation, Ray began his career as a draftsman with Morgan Construction Company, where he worked for more than 40 years before retiring in 1989 as a senior design engineer. His career took him around the world in support of Morgan’s work in the steel industry. A member of the Iron and Steel Engineers Society, Ray held four patents at the time of his retirement.

Ray married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Lois Flagg, in 1960. They shared 57 years of marriage before her passing in 2017. Together, Ray and Audrey enjoyed traveling the world, spending winters in Florida, and welcoming family and friends to their home in Worcester’s Burncoat Street neighborhood.

Ray was an avid golfer whose love of the game led to many lifelong friendships. He also enjoyed landscaping, and his passion for golf was reflected in the lush lawn surrounding the pool where he and Audrey hosted many gatherings. He was a member of the Greendale Men’s Club, enjoyed golfing in its Tuesday league, and looked forward to monthly luncheons with his retired Morgan co-workers. He volunteered with the Worcester County Food Bank for many years and was honored with its prestigious Harvest Award in 2019.

Ray is survived by his four children: Peter Starvaski and his wife, Merri, of Shrewsbury; Pamela Roddy and her husband, Dennis O’Malley, of Wakefield, Rhode Island; Andrew Starvaski of Lunenburg; and Amy Cochis and her husband, Andrew, of Carolina, Rhode Island. He also leaves seven cherished grandchildren, Lauren, Daniel, Raymond, Emily, Jacob, Joshua, and Samantha; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Patricia Collins, and her husband, Randall, of Connecticut; his brother, Michael Starvaski, and his wife, Donna, of Boylston; his sister-in-law, Janice Jacobs, of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. He was adored by his children and grandchildren, who will remember him with deep love and gratitude. He was predeceased by his wife, Audrey (Flagg) Starvaski; his brothers, Edward Starr and Russell Starvaski; his sister, Carol Cerasoli.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Worcester. Burial at St. Philip’s Cemetery in Grafton will be held at a later date.

The family is extremely grateful to the physicians at Reliant Medical Group and to the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center in Shrewsbury for the compassionate care they provided to Ray.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray’s memory may be made to the Worcester County Food Bank or Worcester Vocational Technical High School.
