Raymond J. Mildish, 83, of Worcester, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, April 25, 2011, with family at his bedside.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn E. (Hager) Mildish; 4 children, Brian J. Mildish and his wife Mary of Spencer, Brenda R. Mildish and her companion Ronnie of Ashburnham, Michael J. Mildish of Warren, and Robert J. Mildish and his wife Tami of Hudson; 3 Grandchildren, Jeremy, Garet, and Veronica; 2 step-grandchildren, Kate and Erin; and 2 great-grandchildren Aiden and Zoe. Ray also leaves a sister, Nita Mildish of Clifton Heights, PA, and close friends and in-laws Norman and Beverly Greenough of Auburn, Jon "Butch" and Caroline Hager of Adams, NY and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was born in Baltimore, Maryland on 7/27/27 son of Joseph and Ida (Niemi) Mildish and lived his life in Worcester.
He worked for the City of Worcester Department of Public Works for many years holding many supervisory positions with the Water Department. Ray always worked a second job including time at the Flying Saucer, as a Mayflower truck driver, a security guard at the Centrum, and Spags.
Ray enjoyed gardening and had a talent for art including endeavors into calligraphy, ink drawings, and painting. He was handy with tools and would be seen working in the garden and around the house on weekends listening to the Red Sox on the radio.
Ray will especially be remembered for his expressive sense of humor. The family wishes to thank the staff at Holy Trinity Hospice for all their care and compassion for Raymond while he was there.
Services were private. Memorial donations may be made to First Congregational Church, 1070 Pleasant Street, Worcester MA 01602. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester directed arrangements.
