Obituary

Rutland, MA: Rafael Nieves, 64, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center- University Campus from injuries sustained in a car accident earlier in the week in Worcester. He leaves his wife of 18 years Allison (Cunningham) Nieves, twin 8 year old sons Andrew and Daniel Nieves; an aunt Clara Frederick of Brooklyn, NY; a sister-in-law Vicki Nieves; a niece Heidi Nieves and a nephew Rolando Nieves. He was predeceased by a brother Noel Nieves.
Rafael was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, son of the late Zoilo and Eneida Regus Nieves. He graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School, Bronx, NY and he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology at Fitchburg State University and earned his Master's Degree in Counseling at Fitchburg State University. He worked for many years as a mental health clinician and most recently worked at the Multi Cultural Wellness Center in Worcester. His passion was caring for and helping people.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. There is no funeral and burial will be private.
