Obituary

Phyllis A. (Young) Wheeler, 91, died Saturday, January 12, 2008, in the Christopher House. Her husband, John T. Wheeler died on Nov. 23, 1992. She leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters: Dorothy A. Young, Hazel Young, Jesse Wickson, John Young, Marion Mullet, Ruth Palmgren, Alice Finch, and Edwin Young. Phyllis was born in Worcester, daughter of Edwin R. and Alethia (Cole) Young. She graduated from the Mass. General Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of their alumnae association. She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Nurse Corps. Over the years, she worked in Mass General Hospital, Worcester City Hospital, and Fairlawn Hospital. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Worcester. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. The family has entrusted Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street with arrangements.
