Obituary

Worcester: Peter J. Despres, 77, passed away on April 29th at The Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston, MA. surrounded by his loving family. He leaves 2 sons- James F. Despres of Worcester, and Michael Despres of Sebastian, FL; a daughter- Suzanne Despres of Worcester; 2 granddaughters- Nicole Despres of Worcester and Samantha Despres of Lake Worth, FL; a sister- Kathleen Despres of Grafton; brothers- Louis and his wife Marion Despres of Upton, Francis and his wife Barbara Despres of Ashby, and Thomas Despres of Westborough; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife Bernadette M. (Guertin) Despres, his sister Mary Despres, and a son, John Despres.

Peter was born in Northbridge, son of the late Francis and Yvonne (Belanger) Despres. He graduated from Westborough High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a self employed salesman for many years. He was a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Westborough, enjoyed reading and watching movies, and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Peter was dedicated to his family and extended support and generosity to all he met. One of his lifelong dreams was to hit the lottery and help ease financial burdens and help many people in need. He had unlimited generosity and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
The family would like to thank the many caretakers who showed much appreciated compassion and medical care during his time of need. Oakdale Rehabilitation, Lutheran Rehabilitation, Visiting Nurses of Worcester and many doctors and nurses at UMass Memorial Hospital provided him with the best medical care and played a key role in his health through many years.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the National Veterans Cemetery in Bourne on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
