WORCESTER- Miriam Hedvig Bloom Hopkins, 90, died Thursday, June 17, 2004. Her husband of 52 years, Robert T. Hopkins, died in 1990. She leaves 2 sons and daughters-in law, Craig and Hazel Wood Hopkins of Worcester and Greg Hopkins and Leslie Mason Hopkins of North Andover; 5 grandchildren, R. Craig Hopkins, Jr., Heather B. Dudko, Dana W. Hopkins, Kristan S. Hopkins, and Darren T. Hopkins; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; and a nephew. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Marx.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Walfrid G. and Phoebe H. (Berglund) Bloom. She graduated from Commerce High School. Mrs. Hopkins worked at Norton Company in the 1930's, became a proud homemaker, and later worked as a librarian at the Greendale Branch of the Worcester Public Library, retiring 25 years ago. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, enjoyed traveling, playing cards with her bridge club, crossword puzzles, and was an avid Red Sox fan.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 21, in the chapel at Rural Cemetery, followed by burial next to her husband. Donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605, is directing arrangements.
