Obituary

Worcester: Dr. Miasnig Lindy Hagopian, 91, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at UMASS Medical Center. He leaves three sons, Timothy Hagopian of Worcester with whom he lived until his last hour, Gregory Hagopian and wife Dr. Kate Bielaczyc of Worcester, and Dr. Stefan Hagopian of Topanga, CA; and a daughter- Rahel and husband Dr. Raffi Der Sarkissian of Brookline, MA. He also leaves three grandchildren, Mike Hagopian and his mother Dr. Kathy Gill, and Talia & Stefan Der Sarkissian; and numerous nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Emilie Hagopian, and his brother, Erivan Hagopian.

Lindy was born in Providence, RI, son of the late Garabed and Mary (Dasho) Hagopian. He graduated from Central High in Providence, earned his B.S. from URI in 1950, and M.S., & Ph.D. in chemistry from Clark University. He worked 40 years as a chemist for several companies including UMASS Memorial, the Worcester Foundation, Mason Research Institute, and UMASS Medical. His research included work on the birth control pill program, cancer research, and tobacco & marijuana research. He was an avid gardener, played tennis, and enjoyed classical and Armenian music.
