Obituary

Worcester/Sparkhill, NY — Mary G. Doherty (nee Burke), passed away May 3, 2009 at Northern Manor Nursing Home in Nanuet, NY. She was born in Haverhill, MA, on October 21, 1913. She married Ralph E. Doherty in 1946, and the couple settled in Worcester. She was a secretary at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for over 25 years. Following her retirement from Met Life in 1966, she worked at the Eli Sandman Company in Worcester for eight years. Her husband passed away in 1979. In 1996, Mary moved to Sparkill, NY, where she lived at the Dowling Gardens assisted living center until shortly before her death. She is survived by her son, James B. Doherty (Theresa) of Montebello NY, and two grandsons, Michael Doherty of Brooklyn, and Matthew Doherty of Montebello. Mary is also survived by her sisters Sister Dorothy Burke of Framingham, MA and Eleanor Giampa of Haverhill MA, and brother John Burke of Danville PA.
