Marta M. (Gonzalez) Anderson, 60, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Richard McCormick; her 3 daughters, Jessica Jennette, Taylor Jennette, and Lindsay Anderson; and her cherished grandchildren, Jayla and Clayton. She is also survived by her brothers, Otto, Abelardo Jr and Randy, many more brothers and sisters her adopted brother, Howard Smith, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Marta also leaves her beloved pug, Harley Davidson. She was predeceased by her best friend, James F. Jennette and her father Abelardo Gonzalez SR.
Born in San José, Costa Rica, Marta moved to the United States at a young age. She was a proud graduate of Burncoat Senior High School and dedicated many years of her life to working as a personal care attendant. Marta was an avid New England sports fan and found joy in visiting Hampton Beach, riding motorcycles, family gatherings classic rock music and spending time with her grandson who meant the world to her . Marta was also the nucleus of her family and community, keeping everyone—especially the kids from the old neighborhood—connected. She was known for lighting up phones at a moment’s notice, simply to say “I love you.” Marta will always be remembered for living life fully and living it on her own terms her unconditional love , her fearless heart and her courageous strength.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A funeral service will take place at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home. There will also be a celebration of life for Marta on May 3, 2026 from 2-6 p.m. in the Tatnuck Post 570 Mill St. Worcester, MA 01602.
