Obituary

Marjorie V. (Drake) Smith, 92, of 70 Briarwood Circle, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Smith, (1981), her daughter, Sally Ann Smith (1983), and her brother, Clifford Drake (1950). She leaves a cousin, Rhena Bourque of W. Springfield and very dear friends, Gary and Anne Weagle of Rutland.

Daughter of Grover and Etta (Tourville) Drake, Marjorie was born in Chateaugay, New York and raised in West Springfield, MA, where she graduated from West Springfield High School. She moved to Worcester in the 1950's and worked as an attendant and bookkeeper at Worcester State Hospital, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish and its Friendly Folks group and a member of St. Bernard's Monday Afternoon Club.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16 at Our Lady of the Rosary, 25 Fales St. A calling hour will be held at the church at 10 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMass Memorial Foundation, Hospice, Box 2795, Worcester MA 01613-9938 or to the Resident's Assistance Fund at Briarwood, 65 Briarwood Circle Worcester MA 01606. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements.
