Obituary

Worcester, MA - Lillian (Swanson) Cristy, 95, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves 3 sons, C. Bradley Cristy of Shrewsbury, Donald A. Cristy of Fitchburg, and Gordon L. and his wife Tina Cristy of Worcester; her niece Sandy (Swanson) Hanna of Florida; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several cousins in Sweden. She was preceded in death by her brother Carl "Buddy" H. Swanson; and her former husband Quintin J. Cristy.

Lillian was born in Newton, daughter of Hedvig C. (Lindberg) and Carl H. Swanson. She was a graduate of Newton High School and was instrumental in the family company, Cristy Dry Gas. She was a life member and past president of the Worcester Emblem Club #51, past president Lincoln St. School Mothers' Club and Worcester Council of Parents' Groups, past director Citizens for Neighborhood Improvement, and past member Republican City Committee for Ward 2. Lillian was also a former member of the Public School Art League, Lady Antlers, Tuesday Luncheon Club, League of Women voters, and Worcester Light Opera. She was also involved in many civic committees including the committee that founded the Connie Mack Little League.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 2, from 6-8 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in the Newton Cemetery, Newton, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to AseraCare Hospice, 27 Midstate Dr., Suite 104, Auburn MA 01501 or the St. Francis Adult Daycare, 101 Plantation St., Worcester MA 01604.
