October 27, 2011
Leona Roy (Reid), 98 1/2
1913 - 2011
Worcester - Mom died on 10/27/11 at The Meadows in Leicester where she has been a resident since 7/7/09. She was born April 14, 1913, daughter of Joseph & Delia Reid. She married our father, Norman on 10/13/34 and lived in Worcester all her life. Our father died in 1989. She leaves three children; Paul and his wife Lena of Holden/Jefferson, Janet DiBenedetto and her husband William of N. Oxford and Gerald and his wife Elaine of Sutton & Kennebunk Port, ME. She is preceded by brothers Theodore Reid and Arthur Reid and sisters Rose St. Pierre, Beatrice Ward and Laura Bernard. She also leaves 6 granddaughters and 9 great grandchildren and her faithful friend Dot Smith who came to the Nursing home even in stormy weather to bring mom to the rosary every Wednesday. Mom can be remembered by many on Colby Ave shoveling snow and weeding at 95 years old. As kids we remember Saturdays baking day at the home and many of the neighborhood kids were treated to Swedish bread, homemade doughnuts etc. Also, we would like to thank the staff at The Meadows, particularly Shannon, Sharon, Christiana & Robin, and Sol Amor Hospice, especially Martha & Maria for the excellent care shown to our mother. Mom and dad attended St. Joan of Arc church faithfully each Sunday and holy days (no one dare sit in their seat). Your wish has finally come mom, may you rest in peace with dad.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Meadows (activities department); 111 Huntoon Memorial Hgwy, Rochdale, MA 01542.
