Leo Joseph Messier passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the age of 83, surrounded by family. He was born to Olivica (Roberts) Messier and Dorilla Messier, in Milbury, MA on January 30, 1943.He leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Joyce (Smith) Messier and 3 children- Michael Jeffers and his wife Ellen, Laura Ferrante and her husband John, and Amy Runge and her husband Brandon. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren- Amanda (Javin), Cole (Cheyenne), Angela, Gabrielle (Alex), and Lucas, and also, a great-grandchild Josephine, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Theresa Gendron and a grandson Ashton Runge. 

Leo worked at Wyman Gordon for 40 years. Previous to that he was a barber. Leo was also a veteran of the Coast Guard. Leo loved the ocean and spent the last 39 summers there with his wife at Moody Beach. He had an amazing smile and a great sense of humor and made those around him laugh. He was smart and very handy and could build almost anything. Leo was a grateful man and appreciated what he had. He was there for others, offering a helping hand when he could. Til the end, he kept his humor and intense love for his family. He will be missed terribly.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church 41 Whitmarsh Ave. Worcester, MA 01606, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.  In his honor, the family is requesting that flowers be sent from The Floral Boutique in Millbury directly to the church or that donations be made to Veteran's Inc. or the Research Foundation for OCD.
