Obituary

Laura L. Niva (nee Raita) passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus with her daughters and granddaughter, Lisa, at her side. She was 94.

Laura Lillian was born in Barre, Vermont, daughter of Aino (Winnurva) and Erkki Raita. She worked in the Actuarial Department of State Mutual/Allmerica from 1982 until her retirement. She was a member of Greendale People's Church, AARP, WRTA, and SAIMA Park - Finnish Association.

She leaves two daughters, Barbara J. (Martilla) Wahlstrom and Miriam E. (Martilla) Montville; four grandchildren, Lisa Noyes, Erik Wahlstrom, Todd Wahlstrom, and James Montville; and 2 great-grandsons, Caine Marnal and Liam Wahlstrom. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul E. Martilla, son, Robert P. Martilla; and granddaughter, Lori Martilla.
