Worcester — John “Jock” McCallum, 91, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Agnes W. “Vanessa” (Kerr) McCallum, and his son, Robert McCallum.

Jock leaves his son, Alexander McCallum and his wife, Colleen; his daughter, Jane Lapierre and her husband, Brian; four grandchildren, John McCallum of Denmark, Morgan McCallum of Clinton, Keri McCallum of Upton, and Adele Lapierre of Worcester; five great-grandchildren, Blair, John, Olivia, Elliot, and Jude; and many nieces and nephews.

Jock was born in West Calder, Scotland, the son of the late Mary McCallum. Jock emigrated to the United States in 1958. Before coming to America, he proudly served in the Scottish Royal Air Force and worked in the coal mines. Upon arriving in the United States, he began a career in logistics as a traffic manager with M&M, McLean and Carolina Freight Trucking Companies.

He was a proud Mason and member of the Morningstar Lodge. Jock, along with his family, attended Bag Pipe competitions and Highland Games throughout the region, where he proudly supported his Worcester Kiltie Pipe Band family.

Jock was an exceptional soccer player. In his younger years, he was a member of the Worcester Scans Soccer team and played semi-professional soccer in Fall River, traveling throughout the United States with the sport he loved. He was also an avid recreational golfer, Jock enjoyed playing in the Worcester Kiltie Golf League at Pakachoag and Green Hill golf courses.

Above all, Jock will be remembered for his generous heart and his willingness to always open his home to others. His door was open to anyone and everyone, to all his family visiting from overseas and especially those who were in need or simply needed a place to stay. He never hesitated to offer a warm welcome, a helping hand, and a place at his table. His kindness and generosity touched many lives and will be deeply missed.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents at Brookdale-Eddy Pond for welcoming Jock into their family and caring for him so lovingly during the past two years.
