John J. Bent, 86, formerly of Ararat St, a WWII Coast Guard Veteran, died Friday, April 11, at Oakwood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.
His wife, Mary C. (Mahoney) Bent, died in 1999. He leaves 2 sons, John F. Bent of Stowe VT., and Timothy J. Bent of Webster; 2 daughters, Kathleen M. Renzoni of Worcester; and Barbara A. Booker of Spencer; a sister, Betty Hunt of England; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of George E. and Mary C. (O'Connell) Bent. He attended Worcester schools.
Mr. Bent was a custodian for the Worcester Public School System for over 30 years, retiring in 1979. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Coast Guard. He was also a life-long member of St. George's Church on Brattle St., and the Greendale YMCA.
The Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 15 , from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St(www.nordgrenmemorialchapel.com) with a Mass in St. Georges Church38 Brattle St, Worcester at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 14 from 4-8 in the Funeral Home. In Lieu of Flowers memorial donations my be made to The John J. Bent Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O St. Anne's School, 12 Day St, Webster MA 01570 P.O. Box 818
