Obituary

Joanna F. (Eliopoulos) Ayoub, 58, of Shrewsbury, returned to GOD on Friday, Aug. 15th after a prolonged illness. She passed away at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. She leaves her husband of 32 years, Charles J. Ayoub; a son, Joseph C. Ayoub of Washington, DC; a daughter, Jennifer A. Ayoub of Shrewsbury; 2 sisters, Gloria Kelly of Marblehead and Francine Verge of Salem; a brother, Paul Eliopoulos of Westborough; nieces and nephews. A sister, Martha Bedard predeceased her.

She was born in Hartford, CT., a daughter of Arthur and Mary (Janis) Eliopoulos and lived in Worcester before moving to Shrewsbury in 1972. Beautiful, gifted, intelligent, and caring, Joanna was a loving wife, beloved mother, and a beacon to all who knew her. She loved all children as if they were her own and lived her life selflessly.

The funeral was held at 11:00 a.m Tuesday, Aug. 19th in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St., Worcester, burial in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. George Orthodox Cathedral Building Fund, 30 Anna St., "Joanna will be remembered as an angel who walked among mortals."
