Obituary

Worcester: Janet A. (Carlson) Shamlian, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves 3 sons- Stephen Shamlian and his partner Allison Bartzak of Spencer, John Shamlian of Worcester, and David Shamlian and his partner Cliff Rowe of FL; a daughter Arlene Wilson of Spencer; 9 grandchildren- Jonathan, Michael, Brittany, Kyle, Nicholas, Connor, Derek, Cameron, and Kaitlyn; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Barbara Prescott.

Janet was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Arthur and Ina (Wetherbee) Carlson. She graduated from Commerce High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Green Mountain College. She worked as a medical secretary and office administrator for Dr. Guenter Spanknebel for many years. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and enjoyed vacationing at the Cape. Janet was an avid bowler and played on leagues at Lincoln Lanes and Auburn ten pins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial and committal will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet's memory may be made to The VNA.
