West Boylston, MA - James A. Mitchener, 63, died unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Jim was born in Worcester, son of Stella N. (Yancius) and Stanley H. Mitchener. He was a graduate of North High School, Assumption College (B.S), and Anna Maria College (M.S.). He used his education working for the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology and then at UMASS School of Pharmacology. Before retiring he was an Adjunct Professor teaching Environmental Science at Becker College. He played trumpet for the Tuxedo Classic Jazz Band for many years, and attended Zion Lutheran Church. Jim was an avid hunter/fisherman and outdoorsman and lifetime member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife Nadine G. (Mancevice) Mitchener, daughters Kristen McLlarky and husband Andrew and Erika Mitchener, grandchildren Spencer and Calla Mae, step-daughter Corinne Mitchell and husband Scott, and former wife, Jerilynn Mitchener.
No services are planned. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
