Obituary

Worcester: Irene M. (Melanson) Letiecq, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Parsons Hill Nursing Center. She leaves two daughters- Mary Anne Gagen of Greenfield and Linda Letiecq of California. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Achille C. Letiecq; three sisters Florence Gaudette, Mary Dufault, Theresa Dufault, and 4 brothers- Emile, Leo, Joe, and Edmund Melanson.

Irene was born in Leominster, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Girouard) Melanson. She graduated from St. Cecelia School and from the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA. She worked for many years in the packing department for Foster Grant Company. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church and was a volunteer at Hahnemann Hospital. She also organized a variety show and performed locally for senior citizens and various community groups in Worcester County.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery.
