Worcester - Helen A. Pantos, 99, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012, in the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center. She leaves several cousins including Angie Walsh and Jodi Walsh of West Boylston, Ernest J. Pantos of Worcester, and George J. Pantos of Bethesda, MD. Helen was born in Worcester, daughter of Constant and Emilie (Marggraff) Pantos. She graduated from Classical High School and Becker College –Class of 1933. Helen was a Social Worker for the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare for over 61 years, retiring at age 87. Helen was a very active member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where she served as the first organist and founder of the parish's first choir. In 1993, Helen received the Greek Orthodox Clergy Laity Award from Bishop Methodios of Boston.
The family would like thank the staff at Notre Dame Long Term Care for the compassionate care given to Helen while she was a resident.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, from 9:30-10 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester. A funeral will follow at 10 a.m. in the Cathedral. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, 559 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
