Obituary

Worcester—Gladys E. Peterson, 81, of Worcester, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at UMass Memorial Hospital after a 5-year battle with cancer. Born in Sommerville, daughter of the late Claus E. and Siri E. (Nelson) Peterson, she is survived by four sisters: Doris Hallen of N. Grafton, Mae Edwards of Worcester, Nancy Peterson of Worcester, and Grace MacKirdy of Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by a brother, Earl Peterson. She is also survived by 4 nieces, 4 nephews, 10 grandnieces, and 4 grandnephews.

Gladys was a graduate of South High School and worked as an office manager at Prudential Life Insurance for many years. She was a life-long member of Epworth United Methodist Church, taught Sunday school for 25 years, and was a member of the Naomi Circle. Gladys was also an avid tennis player and enjoyed line dancing, square dancing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 19 with a 2 p.m. graveside service at All Faiths Cemetery and a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 64 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
