Obituary

Worcester - George Sakalauskas, 92, died Monday, January 3, 2011, at St. Mary Health Care Center. He was born in Worcester, son of George and Alexandra (Guzauskas) Sakalauskas. He is survived by a sister Frances LaPointe of Worcester; a brother Charles Sakalauskas of Sterling, MA; 3 nieces, Marguerite Abcunas of Bradenton, FL; Linda Racca of Sterling, MA; Charlene Sakalauskas of Worcester, MA; 1 nephew, George LaPointe of Auburn, MA; 4 grandnephews; and 2 grandnieces.

He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School and was a machinist for U.S. Steel. George was a former member of St. Casimir Parish, Worcester. He was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Thursday, Jan. 6, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Friday January 7, 2011 from the funeral home with a 10:00 a.m. Mass in St. John's Church, 44 Temple Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
