Obituary

Genevieve E. (Noyes) Young, 88, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Phyllis, surrounded by her family. She, with her husband, Oliver V. Young, ran the former Young Ladder Co. of Worcester. He predeceased her in 1984.

Genevieve was born in Chicago on July 15, 1916, daughter of Charles and Genevieve (Wertzler) Noyes. She is survived by her children, Phyllis Mentzer and Robert Mentzer, Sandra Courtney, wife of David of Arizona, Steven Young and his wife Lenore of Holden and Barbara Landy of Dudley; 9 grandchildren, Robert Mentzer, Jr. of Spencer, Lisa Mentzer of Millbury, Timothy Mentzer and his wife Tina of Shirley, Patricia Broskey and her husband Scott of Leicester, Kevin Young and his wife Heidi of Sturbridge, Lynn Crozier and her husband Rich of Holden, Stephanie Foster and her husband John of Townsend, John Courtney of AZ, Kelly Mikelick and her husband Greg of AZ, along with 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Noyes of West Boylston and her sister, Minnie Irene (Noyes) Brown wife of Joseph of Russellville, AK. Her brothers, Leroy, William, Edward and Herbert Noyes all predeceased her. Genevieve's parents owned the former Noyes Laundry where she worked for many years prior to her marriage.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
