Obituary

Shrewsbury—Francis D. Smith, Jr., 67, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009 at UMass Memorial Medical Center. He leaves Denise Benson, the love of his life; three daughters—Tammy and her husband Bill Sanger of Berwick, ME; Alicia and her husband Dennis Miller of Duncannon, PA; and Monica and her husband David St. Pierre of Berwick, ME. He also leaves Kenneth Rabouin of Auburn, Kelly O'Malley of Sutton, and Kristen Love of Sanford, ME; and 8 grandchildren: Katrina, Dakota, Benjamin, Zachary, Nicholas, Alaina, Kaitlin, and Andrew. Francis was born in Greenfield, MA, son of Hazel (Hutchinson) and Francis D. Smith, Sr. He worked as a carpenter most of his life and worked as a custodian at Holy Cross College until he retired in August 2006. He loved spending time in Maine, building models of boats, and bird watching.

A Celebration of his life will be held at his home, 20 Brooklawn Parkway, Shrewsbury, MA 01545 on Saturday, April 18, from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-1942.
