Obituary

Sterling: Ethel G. (Johnson) Fortier, 100, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Leominster Hospital. She leaves 2 daughters- Carolyn Schwarz and her husband Raymond of Brookline, NH and Elaine M. Frantz of Sterling; a grandson- Greggory Frantz of Worcester; 2 great granddaughters- Makayla and Natalie;and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of over 40 years, Walter J. Fortier, her daughter Janet L. Fortier, and by her brother and sister-in-law Eric and Isabelle Johnson.

Ethel was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Fredolph (Fred) and Ingeborg (Jansson) Johnson. She graduated from Commerce High School and Fairchild Secretarial School. She worked for several years as a clerk at the former Norton Company in Worcester. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Vasa's Nordic Lodge #611. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, watching the Red Sox and spending time with family.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in spring 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethel's memory may be made to Zion Lutheran Church 41 Whitmarsh Ave. Worcester, MA 01606 or to the American Heart Association.
