Obituary

Eleanor Carnes, 84, of Malden, died April 1, 2008, at Blaire House in Worcester.

She was born January 11, 1924 in Malden, daughter of the late Carl and Helen Edwards and sister of the late Aileen Metcalf. She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School in 1942.

A lifelong resident of Malden and member of First Parish in Malden, Universalist, she was also active in Church Women United and an active member of AARP. In her leisure time, she enjoyed dancing, knitting, crocheting and quilting.

Eleanor was the mother of Carleen Daly, of Shrewsbury MA, and David Carnes, of California and the aunt of Vicki Mandell of Saugus MA. She is survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 nephew.

A service in celebration of her life will be held on April 26 at 10:30 a.m. at First Parish in Malden, Universalist, 2 Elm St., Malden. Interment to follow at 3:00pm at Tory Hill Cemetery, in Warner, NH.

Contributions in her memory may be made to First Parish in Malden, the Humane Society or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
