Obituary

Worcester - Douglas R. "Sonny" Alfreds, 68, of Worcester and Old Orchard Beach, ME, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011. He leaves his companion of 29 years M. Madeline Ferrie; sons, Richard P. Alfreds, Douglas R. Alfreds, Jr., and wife Ursula, and Kevin M. Alfreds; daughter Jodi and husband Andrew Early; grandchildren, Grace, Andrew, and Amelia Early and Alex and Tucker Alfreds; former wife, Elizabeth Alfreds; brothers, Robert and Steven Alfreds and wife Brenda; sisters, Florence Tisdell, Lillian Macaruso, Winifred Entwistle, and Sandra Kirkorian and husband Robert; and his other grandchildren "The little guys." He was predeceased by brothers Herbert, Philip, Donald, and Dennis Alfreds and sister, Virginia Liseno.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Richard and Florence (Johnson) Alfreds. He worked for 30 years at Eagle Plating Company of Worcester. His hobbies were wood-crafting for his grandchildren, yard sales, and working at Wild Acres Campground in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

Services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, on Monday, July 25. Visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by the Memorial Service at 12 p.m. Burial of ashes will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
