Obituary

Dorothy M. Rand, 97, passed away after a brief illness, on Saturday, March 4, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Raymond S. Rand who died in May 2006. She leaves her two sons Dr. Robert S. Rand and his wife Maria-Elisa of Lorton, VA and Scott M. Rand of Pompano Beach, FL; and a granddaughter, Christine Rand of Alexandria, VA.

Dorothy was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Margaret (Mahoney) Leacock. She had a love for the art of hairdressing and went to Leo Beauty Academy to develop this skill. Previously, she attended Becker Junior College, as well as Burncoat Preparatory, Junior, and Senior High.

Dorothy had unbounded love for her family. She loved and protected them all. She deserves special tribute for being a faithful caregiver to her beloved husband during his 28-year battle with Parkinson's Disease, as well as caring for both her mother and mother-in-law in her own home as they struggled during their later years.
