Obituary

Doris E. (Johanson) Pearson, 79, of 5 School Street, Boylston, died Friday, February 13, 2004, at the Beaumont Nursing Home, Westborough. Her husband of 48 years, Eric B. Pearson, founder of Bergson Ice Cream, died in 1998.

She was the loving mother of Eric B. Pearson, Jr., of West Boylston, Kurt E. Pearson of Westborough, Christine A. Pearson of Florida, and Karen E. Perry of Worcester and loving grandmother of 8 grandchildren. One grandchild, Tyler Pearson, a brother, Elis Johanson, and a sister, Edla Wheildon, predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Elis J. and Gudrun C. (Andersen) Johanson. She was an alumna of Holden High School Class of 1943 and a graduate of Endicott College and Clark University. Mrs. Pearson was a long-time resident of Boylston and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Boylston, Artist Guild, Boylston Public Library Foundation, Worcester Country Club, Worcester Foundation, Girl Scouts of the Montachusett Council, and The Boylston Historical Society. She enjoyed golfing, skiing, sailing, and traveling.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, in the First Congregational Church, 4 Church St. Calling hours are 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, February 16, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Private burial will be held in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Please omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Boylston Public Library, 695 Main Street, Boylston, MA 01505.
